Spreading the message is a key factor ensuring the next generation and their mentors get the recognition they deserve. High profile publicity like the Queens representative presenting the Queens Awards at Ludlow school, or Marches young chefs going to London or indeed the CIC launch of Skillbuilders are all important to keep the Skillbuilders ethos in the public view.
Skillbuilders, although looking to focus in designated geographic areas is keen to be part of a much larger fellowship all learning from each other and sharing best practice.
For this we need the news industry to be our outward facing message board and to really buy in to the vision.
Young Chefs Contest 2009
If you are aged 16 - 25 and are in training or workinag as a chef but not head chef you can enter this free contest, there are great prizes on offer including a weeks work experience at Hibiscus with Claude Bosi recently ranked 6th best chef in England and having eaten there I can well believe it.
